Questions
Can I use 9 chords instead of 7 chords?
Usually yes. A 9 chord contains the 7th plus one more note, so it fits anywhere a 7 chord does, and sounds smoother and jazzier.
How do I read a chord diagram?
The vertical lines are the strings, with the thickest (low E) on the left. The horizontal lines are frets. A dot shows where to press, and the number inside is the finger to use: 1 index, 2 middle, 3 ring, 4 little. A circle above the nut means play the string open; an X means don't play it.
