Questions

How do I know where to put the capo?

Find the key the song is in, then look it up in the second table to get an easy shape and capo position. For example, a song in B♭ is easy with G shapes and the capo on fret 3.

Does a capo change the chord names?

The shapes stay the same but the sound goes up one half step per fret. A G shape at capo 2 sounds as A. Most songbooks write the shape names and the capo fret.
