Questions

How many songs should a beginner know?

Aim for three you can play all the way through without stopping. Then grow the list to ten. A short list you can really play beats a long list of half-learned songs.

What counts as "nailed it"?

You can play it from memory, at full tempo, without stopping, and ideally while singing or along with the recording.
